Research Specialist (SPOT and KEY study)

Description

This multidisciplinary team is housed within the Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. We are seeking a Research Specialist to work on two newly funded clinical research studies with high-risk adolescents and their families: 1) Sleep Predicting Outcomes in Teens (SPOT Study) examining the association between sleep difficulties and risk for suicide among depressed adolescents; and 2) Early Intervention for Adolescents At-Risk for Bipolar Disorder (KEY Study) examining two different psychotherapy approaches for high-risk adolescents and their mechanisms of action. The Research Specialist will be assisting the research study coordinators with multiple tasks related to clinical research studies with high-risk adolescents, including scheduling and conducting virtual and in-person psychiatric assessments with adolescents and their parents; ensuring timely completion of research study procedures including ambulatory heart rate and activity monitoring; managing data flow for ambulatory procedures. This employee will collect and gather clinical research data, including clinical assessments, cognitive tasks and ambulatory activity and heart rate monitoring, according to study protocol.
 

This position is grant funded.     

Responsibilities:

  • Independently execute job functions for research protocols including recruitment, scheduling appointments, collecting data by conducting virtual or face to face interviews for research project(s), overseeing administration of cognitive tasks and ambulatory assessment of activity and heart rate monitoring.
  • Collaborate with senior research and clinical personnel regarding recruitment, data collection, and study procedures.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required, preferably in Psychology, Neuroscience, Sociology or related research field.
  • Minimum of one year of work experience in a research project and/or related clinical setting is required.
  • Familiarity with computers and common software packages required.
  • Working knowledge of research methodology strongly preferred.
  • Experience with behavioral health is preferred.
  • Experience with high-risk adolescents is preferred.

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

  • Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting with renewal
  • Act 33 with renewal
  • Act 34 with renewal
  • Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
