Transplant Outreach Liaison (Kidney/Intestinal)

Description

This position will require regular travel to other UPMC facilities. One day per week traveling to UPMC Hamot and two days, every other month, traveling to UPMC Williamsport.

Purpose:
Under the direction of the Manager of Transplant Program Development, works collaboratively with Transplant physician leaders to develop and implement targeted communication strategies to support the services and capabilities of the UPMC Transplant Responsible for the implementation of the plans and monitoring results

Responsibilities:

  • Prepares report for Director of Transplant Program Development that will be reviewed with UPMC Senior leaders.
  • Coordinates activities associated with vendor representation (conferences to include venue and participant confirmation, giveaways, display, and literature needs.
  • Develops and executes marketing and activities for Donor Awareness Month.
  • Spends a majority of time actively visiting with referral sources in the service area, communicating information about the UPMC Transplant programs, services, and capabilities
  • Complete special projects under the direction of the Director Transplant Program Development.
  • Identifies potential problems or opportunities and troubleshoots and solves problems.
  • Actively seeks to build new referral bases with physicians who may refer potential transplant patients. Supports outreach efforts for the transplant programs' clinical service lines.
  • Compiles and analyzes data regarding consumer characteristics, service utilization, or community resources as directed. Prepare pertinent reports and data analysis as requested or as indicated through assessments.
  • Actively seeks to build new referral bases with physicians who may refer potential transplant patients. Supports outreach efforts for the transplant programs' clinical service lines.
  • Develop and maintain complex spreadsheets.
  • Coordinates and schedules presentations/meet and greet for targeted groups of physicians and other venues.
  • Collaborates with team members to develop community outreach plans for the UPMC Transplant Programs with key community organizations (NKF, ALK, CORE, TRIO) which will support the continued growth of the programs and strengthen existing relationships.
  • Under the direction of the Manager of Transplant Program Development, works collaboratively with Transplant physician leaders to develop and implement targeted communication strategies to support the services and capabilities of the UPMC Transplant Responsible for the implementation of the plans and monitoring results
  • Develop methods to evaluate the communication and marketing plans or projects based on effectiveness and document the results.
  • Prepare strategies to achieve marketing and communication goals
  • Develops outreach process system including preparation of visit and follow up process to capture all information from visits with referral sources.
  • Monitors referrals from external physicians and supports the maintenance of a referring physician database in collaboration with strategic planning.
  • Acts as an advocate for the consumer population providing education to consumer, family, or other agency personnel with a focus on consumer self-advocacy.
  • Maintains knowledge base of competitors at a local, regional and national level
  • Provides oversight to the CME and CEU programs being offered regarding UPMC Transplant services.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree required - Healthcare-related, education or, business-related.
  • 3 years of marketing/business development required.
  • 3 years healthcare preferred.
