UPMC is hiring an experienced SWAT (“Supplemental Work and Transition”) RN that will float to our different hospitals and assist on the OB units.  Apply today to learn more!

The permanent SWAT RNOB Nurse will be utilized to fill shifts in all OB areas of high need. Assignments are typically 6 weeks in length. SWAT OB Nurses must be willing to work at all UPMC facilities that offer delivery services which include but not limited to:  Magee-Women's Hospital, Northwest, Altoona, Hamot, and Horizon. SWAT OB Nurses must be willing to work and accept regular rotational assignments as determined by a SWAT team supervisor.

Responsibilities:

  • Must be flexible in scheduling to the requirements of the unit assigned.
  • Utilize nursing process in managing the care of patients including assessment, interdisciplinary planning, implementation, evaluation of patient care, teaching and discharge planning. Contribute to the universal unit activities, including but not limited to responding to call lights and telephone, passing meal trays and patient transports. 

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated competence in professional nursing practice required.
  • Two years nursing experience with one year in OB labor and delivery experience required.
  • Must be able to pass all UPMC required testing for Registered Nurses.
  • EFM Training
  • SWAT Nurses must agree to be available to work 72 hours in a bi-weekly pay period and will follow the scheduling requirements of the unit assigned. 

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
  • PA Registered Nurse (RN)
  • OAPSA
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)

(To be acquired after offer acceptance and before start date – we will provide instructions on how to obtain):

  • Act 33 Child Clearance with Renewal
  • Act 34 Criminal Clearance with Renewal
  • Act 73 FBI Clearance
