Description

Purpose:
UPMC Pinnacle is currently hiring a Full Time Paramedic for the Community Paramedicine Program. The Community Paramedic is responsible for staffing the daily operations of the Community Paramedicine Program as directed by the Community Health RN Director. Will perform patient checks as directed, and assist with program development as required. The Paramedic fulfills education and experiential requirements as established by the Medical Director, and performs other duties as assigned. Supports and upholds the mission, goals, and objectives, of the UPMC system at all times.

Responsibilities:

• Carries out home visits as directed.
• Contacts Community Health Manager and/or Medical Director with any concerns observed in the field.
• Completes documentation in a timely fashion.
• Participates in scheduled and unscheduled outreach activities, representing the UPMC system.
• When on duty, dresses in a manner consistent with the established uniform policy.
• Completes assigned duties with the highest degree of responsibility and professionalism.
• Ensures that all CP equipment and vehicles are clean and restocked in a timely manner.
• Actively participates in quality assurance audits as may be required
• Demonstrates the ability to establish a rapport with customers; including the ability to create and sustain a positive relationship; regardless of circumstances, environment, or patient presentation.
• Performs duties according to CP policies and procedures.
• Assists with any additional duties as requested.
• Maintains all required continuing education in accordance with UPMC Pinnacle, LifeTeam and state requirements based on level of certification.

Qualifications

Qualifications
• High school diploma or equivalent
• One (1) year EMS pre-hospital experience at the advance life support provider level preferred
• Must be able to lift, carry, push and/or pull weight up to 100 pounds.
• Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions required.
• Must be eligible to receive medical command authorization by the Medical Director, have reliable transportation, and be willing to travel to any base site as assigned.
• Must be able to successfully complete the prescribed orientation program, including classroom, Must work productively and effectively within a complex environment, handle multiple/changing priorities, and specialized equipment.

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

• EMT-P certification- PA accredited
• CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) or equivalent required
• International Trauma Life Support (ITLS) or equivalent required
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or equivalent required
• Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
• Driver's License
• Emergency Vehicle Operator
• Paramedic
