UPMC is actively hiring for a Senior Systems Analyst (IT Project Manager) to support the Health Plan Payer Applications team!
 
The Senior Systems Analyst (Senior IT Project Manager) is an experienced and result-oriented individual with a proven track record of managing all phases of IT service delivery throughout the SDLC of each cross-functional department project/program within the UPMC Insurance Service Division. This position ensures all initiatives are closely aligned with UPMC strategic priorities and business requirements to be delivered at the highest standards/quality, on time, on budget, all while managing risk and providing status to stakeholders and executive leadership.  

Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for providing technical project planning, management, and oversight for key initiatives and implementation projects.
  • System Integration - May be responsible for the coordination of tasks and resources related to system integration, validation of testing and implementation.
  • SDLC (System Development Life Cycle) - Have a proficient understanding of multiple system/application development life cycles.
  • Data Quality - Maintain data quality at all times.
  • Application Upgrades and Implementation - Identify new functionality and/or hardware requirements related to application upgrades and implementations. Creates test plans. Responsible for review and validation of functionality. Report back any problems. Create and/or manage cutover plans including downtime, etc. Responsible for evaluating impact and coordinating efforts across multiple platforms as necessary.
  • Ability to lead in both waterfall and agile methodologies acting as both PM and Scrum Master.
  • Interactions with Others - Successfully completes projects, tasks, and initiatives by embracing a team-first approach. Works in collaboration with team and offers feedback, where appropriate, to complete individual and group efforts. Shows the ability to adjust and be flexible to change by adapting approach when necessary. Mentors less experienced staff.
  • Communication – Ability to properly communicate to key stakeholders on progress, impediments, or key decisions needed to keep initiatives on track.
  • Data Confidentiality/Security - Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information at all times.
  • Project Management - Create and contributes to project tasks and milestones. Update all project management and time tracking tools accordingly. Ability to take full ownership of a project.
  • Vendor Relationships - Interact with vendors (technical issues, project initiatives) independently, as necessary. Ability to act as the point person for issue escalation.
  • End-User Training - Ability to create training content. Facilitate more detailed user training sessions. Ability to train peers.
  • Documentation – Responsible for maintaining existing project management processes and additionally create new processes when applicable/needed; demonstrates the ability to build process flows, PowerPoint presentations and create policies and procedures in MS Word.
  • Second and Third Level Support (Including Maintenance Activities) - Independently triage and resolve Level 2 and Level 3 support issues. Act as a mentor to less experienced staff in resolution of Level 2 and Level 3 issues. Ability to handle problem management as appropriate.
  • Report Writing/Analysis - Write and analyze complex reports. Make modifications to complex reports. Mentor less experienced team members. Communicate with the business/act as business analyst.
  • Process Improvement – Ability to lead, build upon, and improve the organization’s project management processes and act as a key contributor in the training and auditing of those processes.
  • Will be accountable for all aspects of project management that include but not limited to: project planning, scheduling, risk management, scope management, internal and external communications, status reporting, and resource management (internal and partners).

Qualifications

  • Typically has 5+ years experience with modern technology and application support through education or practical experience.
  • Highly driven and self-motivated to exceed expectations.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team-based environment.
  • Demonstrates thorough understanding of information technology fundamental tools and concepts (SDLC) of one of the information technology professional disciplines and applies that understanding to make independent practical contributions to IT work within a UPMC department or function.
  • Completes on-going training on-the-job, through courses, self-study, certifications, and/or advanced degrees to maintain and enhance technical and business capabilities. Additionally, this position may be required to maintain a stand-by status as part of a rotation within the team.
Preferred Qualifications: 
  • Experience with SharePoint Administration
  • Prior experience with waterfall and agile methodologies acting as both PM and Scrum Master.
  • Experience managing within Jira or Azure DevOps
  • Experience working in a Data Warehouse organization
  • Portfolio and Resource management experience a plus
