Description

Purpose:
Provides visionary results-oriented, and mission-directed leadership for all in patient nursing activities of assigned facility. Provides administrative direction of activities of the assigned facility, ensuring quality health services in conformance with the Hospital bylaws and medical staff policies. Serves as a main liaison to medical staff in delivery of care issues and standards development.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintains the appropriate culture and professional environment to ensure availability of adequate and appropriate staff to provide desired quality clinical services within a cost-effective environment
  • Develops, supports and continually evaluates the professional environment to ensure employee retention and promote a high performance team.
  • Selects, assigns, leads, motivates, coaches and evaluates the management team to enhance their ability to manage and supervise the quality of care and employee relations of the managers that report to them.
  • Establishes an environment in which evidence-based practice can evolve and flourish. Fosters research activities to enhance patient care outcomes and contributes to the body of health care knowledge
  • Disseminates, educates and promotes the SH Nursing philosophy, facilitating the professional practice of Nursing, ensuring the integration and advancement of professional nursing and communicating current standards of nursing procedures.
  • Participates with Leadership Team in charting the course that Susquehanna Health (SH) is to follow in response to developing and shifting needs of the community and executes accordingly. In collaboration with the Chief Nursing Executive, develops strategic and quality plans as SH evolves to meet current and anticipated needs and priorities for Nursing and patient care.
  • Maintains connectivity to and supports relationship building with physicians, community agencies and organizations.
  • Ensures integration of services that support the delivery of patient care through facilitation of relationships, processes and communication/accreditation based on departmental and interdepartmental processes
  • Manages and monitors budgets for nursing to achieve economic performance goals within the context of the mission, vision, values and strategic plan for Susquehanna Health

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelors in Nursing Required
  • Masters degree in Nursing or related health care field required, either at time of hire/transfer, or must be enrolled in a program within one year of hire/transfer date and completed within three years of enrollment. (i.e. public health, informational technology, administration, etc.)
  • Doctoral degree in Nursing or Health related field, preferred.
  • Five years of progressive experience in an acute care hospital at the director level or an assistant or associate administrator or Vice President required.


Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

  • Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania required
  • Registered Nurse (RN)
