Description

UPMC Mercy is hiring a Project Manager to support the Quality Divison at our Pittsburgh, PA location!

Position Details:
The project manager will develop and maintain project plans to support the division of Quality at UPMC Mercy, such as the hand hygiene program, leapfrog safety grade, culture of safety and the good catch program.  They will be part of the infection prevention, quality safety, regulatory and patient experience teams. They will serve as an events coordinator for campaigns such as national patient safety week, the quality fair, and infection control week.  This position is responsible for policy management which includes archiving, updating, and posting policies in compliance with DOH, CMS and TJC standards, along with responding to corporate risk management for the discovery phase in claims and lawsuits, along with arranging depositions.  The project manager will manage the clinical contract review process for quality indicators annually.  The DOH and TJC survey structure will be coordinated though this person.  Hospital wide management of QI projects will also be tracked and reported out by the project manager.  This position will support hospital wide events and projects for the division of quality.   The project manager will serve as a data manager for the division and provide data updates for the quality division, along with mandatory reporting to the DOH. 

Purpose:
Provide internal direction, leadership, and accountability for project management efforts among operations as well as across the system. Define project objectives and measures to be tracked by the responsible business owners, and develop and maintain detailed project plans.

Responsibilities:

 

  • Identify trends and process improvement opportunities across departments within operations.
  • Perform cost/benefit analysis
  • Develop and implement key metrics to measure and report on progress of initiatives.
  • Work with other managers to achieve efficiencies across integration of projects.
  • Develop and maintain detailed project plans, this includes utilizing standard project documentation and methodology and project tracking and reporting procedures.
  • Develop cross-functional, change management and implementation strategies; ensure that all of the participating parties have committed to effective implementation of the processes and procedures.
  • Assist team members in resolving project problems, escalates issues when necessary, and facilities decision-making.
  • Assure quality of information through business case and application level testing; validate test results to initial business needs.
  • Provide concise and timely status reporting as required
  • Monitor operating performance against regional and national benchmarks.
  • Assist with achieving Operations division strategic goals as well as system strategic goals.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business, mathematics, statistics, health care, management, or related business field required.
  • Minimum of four years of related work experience.
  • Master's degree preferred.
  • Experience in health care insurance or health care industry preferred.
  • Excellent computer skills required, including Access, Excel, Microsoft Project, and other pertinent computer software packages.
  • Strong management, problem solving, organizational, and communication skills (oral and written) are required.
  • Excellent Project Management skills along with effective planning and organizational skills.
  • Ability to perform planning for large initiatives/projects, managing all tasks required to providing services to meet client and business needs within budget and targeted deadlines.
