Description

Purpose:
Ensures oversight and growth of the community engagement and fundraising programs of Chautauqua Hospital Foundation. Manages donor relations . Provides direction for staff members, interns and volunteers responsible for fundraising and for community outreach/education.

Responsibilities:

 

  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Performs in accordance with system-wide competencies/behaviors.
  • Ensure excellent record keeping on donor/prospect giving, giving patterns, cultivation activities and prospect research that will enhance giving.
  • Prepare a detailed fiscal year plan and budget to meet appropriate cultivation and solicitation goals and special campaign initiatives.
  • Develop donor communication materials to include solicitation letters, gift acknowledgement letters, newsletter articles, informational brochures, etc.
  • Manage donor relations and recognition activities.
  • Regularly solicit new donor prospects.
  • Assist the President in building the annual fund and implementing capital campaigns. Identify, cultivate and solicit individual gifts via all available methods.
  • Solicit corporate sponsorships for all foundation-sponsored events.
  • Supervise the community engagement team in execution of the plans for both fundraising and community outreach and education.
  • Develop and implement the plan for special events fundraising that maximizes all resources to reach and exceed fund-raising goals.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Communications or a related area required.
  • Ten+ years of experience to include experience working on multifaceted special events from concept to completion, capital campaigns and professional experience with the media.
  • Managerial and organizational ability to plan and implement diverse activities related to community engagement and fundraising.
  • Analytical ability to monitor and evaluate strategies and projects.
  • Creative vision to cultivate and motivate existing donors and to identify and solicit new donors.
  • Personal presence, assertiveness and interpersonal skills necessary to fulfill responsibilities of the position.
  • Ability to work under pressure of conflicting deadlines.
  • Ability to work effectively with volunteer committees.
  • Computer knowledge is required, using Microsoft Office applications (Word, PowerPoint, Publisher and Excel) and donor development software.
  • Familiarity with Raiser's Edge software preferred.
  • Willingness to travel locally for donor visits and events essential.
  • Personal vehicle required.
  • Ability to lift 30 lbs. required.
  • A thorough knowledge of fundraising principles and ethics.
