UPMC is hiring for full-time Patient Access Representatives to start immediately. Whether you are looking to start your career in healthcare or are looking to expand your skill set, this is the opportunity for you!

In this role. you will travel to various UPMC physician offices, outpatient centers, and Urgent Care locations within Allegheny County, and occasionally some locations just outside of Allegheny County and work a variety of shifts (Daylight hours). Shifts are 8.5 hours and could start as early as 7AM or end as late as 530PM (the majority of shifts are 8A-430P). Your first six months will be floating on the mobile team with potential to be placed at one location after six months.


  • Interview and pre-register patients at the time of or prior to the visit date.
  • Obtain and update demographic, next-of-kin, and insurance information.  Input patient information into the computer to initiate a medical record and a bill.
  • Confirm/verify insurance benefits with the appropriate carrier via on-line verification systems or telephone inquiries.
  • Obtain signature of patient or family member for consent to treatment and financial responsibility.
  • Collect and record patient payments at time of service.
  • Schedule patient appointments
  • Assist with administrative duties in the office (answer phones, scanning, filing, etc.)



  • Completion of high school diploma or equivalent.

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

  • Act 34 Criminal Clearance

  • Act 33 Child Abuse

  • Act 73 FBI
