Description

UPMC East is hiring a full-time Quality Nurse to jpoin our team! 

Purpose:

  • Provides meaningful data regarding consistencies in standards of care and assists hospital teams with data relating to quality improvement activities.
  • Participates in quality oversight initiatives, and monitors patient safety initiatives to improve and enhance care delivery.


Responsibilities:

  • Works independently or within teams based on project needs.
  • Builds and mends relationships among colleagues within the framework of a healthy workplace while being sensitive to cultural and other individual needs.
  • Role models keen cultural awareness including preventing and addressing horizontal violence and impairment.Maintains a conscious balance between work and personal life through prioritization and delegation of responsibilities.
  • Reviews and extracts patient information from the medical record
  • Participates in quality projects
  • Aggregates/reports data based on project requirementsInvestigates and summarizes key issues based on quality case project
  • Understands and maintains knowledge of regulatory and/or standards by actively reviewing and updating process to reflect the requirements.
  • Promotes change and innovation that enhances the quality of patient care and the departmental functions and efficiencies.
  • Demonstrates a passion for developing others, enthusiastically and expertly precepts students, graduate nurses and new hires.
  • Analyzes clinical and behavioral situations, identifying learning opportunities to improve patient care practices.

  • Collects, prepares, and presents accurate, timely data to display results of process improvements that allow for trending and easy to understand.
  • Reviews data and analyzes outcomes for patterns and trends in order to communicate findings related to standards, evidenced based practices, and policies for the improvement of processes.
  • Demonstrates a passion for developing others, enthusiastically and expertly precepts students, graduate nurses and new hires.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing or related field required, either at time of hire/transfer, or must be enrolled in a program within one year of hire/transfer date and completed within three years of enrollment.
  • Minimum 2 years of nursing experience required.
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive, caring relationships with executives, managers, physicians, non-physician providers, ancillary and support staff, other departments, and patients/families.
  • Ability to work productively and effectively within a complex environment, handle multiple/changing priorities and specialized equipment.
  • Exemplary critical thinking, analytical and problem solving abilities required as related to various aspects of patient care.
  • Critical thinking skills necessary to exercise and to lead others.
  • Mobility and visual manual dexterity.
  • Physical stamina for frequent walking, standing, lifting.

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

  • Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Act 34
