Description

UPMC Presbyterian Prescription Shop is a looking for a full-time Pharmacy Ops Specialist, Senior to join their retail pharmacy team and help them grow their Meds to Beds program.

This position will collaborate with the unit staff including nurses, prescribers, case managers, social workers, and pharmacists to remove any prescription barriers for patients prior to discharge, as well as preparing and delivering medications to patients and/or nursing units under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist. The right candidate is an independent, patient-focused worker who can handle a fast paced environment.

UPMC Presbyterian Prescription Shop is open between 7:00am and 7:00pm, 7 days a week including holidays. This position will work rotating shifts, occasional weekends and an assigned holiday schedule.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in training other Operations Specialists in determining their ability to function in DESIGNATED area of the Pharmacy department.
  • Oversee the coordination of daily activities, organization of duties and responsibilities, and the development of workflow guidelines and other necessary tools to maximize productivity in DESIGNATED area.
  • Create and lead departmental quality improvement activities in order to continually improve and evaluate pharmaceutical care as reflected by operational indicators.
  • Collaborate with Pharmacy Administration on innovative projects and developments that further the Department's mission and goals.
  • Demonstrate a service orientation in all interpersonal relations. Conveys a positive, professional image at all times.
  • Provide and received information (via telephone, person-to-person, or written) to hospital personnel, patients and visitors. Refer all drug information questions to Staff Pharmacists.
  • Use computer skills to process and document information as needed for Operations Specialist's designated area
  • Provide feedback to the needs of the department and other associates in a respectful and effective manner consistent with UPMC values
  • Perform assigned job responsibilities with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Provide progressive technical knowledge, coordination of activities, support of new initiatives, and create a shared experience and support among associates within DESIGNATED area.
  • Develop and maintain a clean, organized, and adequately stocked work environment.
  • Maintain all pertinent documentation as required.
  • Ensure that all medications in all areas have been safely and securely stored according to Department of Health, The Joint Commission, and State Board of Pharmacy regulations.
  • Oversee and instruct other associates in the DESIGNATED area regarding day-to-day activities.

 

Qualifications

  • Completion of high school diploma or equivalent required OR
  • Completion of an Accredited Pharmacy Technician Program AND
  • 5 years experience as a Pharmacy Technician or a Pharmacy Operations Specialist
  • Must have demonstrated competency in all detailed aspects of the Pharmacy Operations Specialists DESIGNATED area which includes (Inventory Control, Chemotherapy, Medication Safety, Automation, Information Technology...etc)


Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
Certification within Specialty AND/OR Pharmacy Technician Certification
