Research Specialist


Dr. Villemagne’s Laboratory of Molecular Neuropharmacology conducts studies involving biochemical biomarker analyses on postmortem human brain tissue and blood samples. These analyses include ELISA, SIMOA, enzyme activity assays as well as radioligand binding assays. The Research Specialist will process and store or ship patients’ blood samples for biomarker assays, process frozen autopsy brain tissue samples and perform biochemical ELISA and enzyme activity assays and assist with maintaining of a transgenic mouse colony and preparation of laboratory protocol.

This position is grant funded.


  • Independently execute job functions for research protocol(s), assists in preparation and submission of laboratory protocols, collecting and analyzing data on research projects
  • Collaborate with senior research personnel regarding biochemical assay completion and data collection, outcomes of interviews, reports according to the needs of the study.


  • Bachelor's degree required, preferably in Psychology, Neuroscience, Sociology or related research field.
  • Minimum of one year of work experience in a research project and/or related clinical setting is required.
  • Familiarity with computers and common software packages required.
  • Experience in handling and processing of human blood and brain tissue samples, biochemistry assays preferred.
  • Working knowledge of research methodology strongly preferred.
