University of Pittsburgh Physicians, Comprehensive Lung Center - Pulmonology is hiring a full-time Physician Assistant or Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner to support our APP Pulmonology Services at UPMC Hamot, Suite C, Erie PA 16505.  The supervisor schedule will offer Monday-Friday, 8 hrs, with on-call and alternating weekends to support management needs.  The type of specialty work includes Pulmonology.  See what being an Advanced Practice Provider Leader can do for UPMC and what UPMC can do for Advanced Practice Providers – it’s more than just a job!

Purpose:
Coordinate and oversee all physician assistant and certified nurse practitioner functions.

Responsibilities:

 

  • Organize and oversee staffing of clinical sites with attending physician and Director of Operations.
  • Liaison for all mid level providers for each site. This would include communication to the division management and physicians on behalf of the mid level providers, as well as communication to the MLP's from management.
  • Act as a liaison to and preceptor for PA and CRNP students.
  • Perform those duties outlined in the Physician Assistant or Certified Nurse Practitioner job description.
  • Implements, maintains, monitors, and communicates Human Resources policies pertaining to PA's and CRNP's.
  • Assist staff in preparation of conferences.
  • Provides departmental leadership to direct, supervise, and manage daily activities of the PA's and CRNP's; completes annual performance evaluations in conjunction with support staff.
  • Facilitate training of staff for all PA's and CRNP's.
  • Oversee staff adherence to compliance requirements including documentation, coding, licensure, internal and external audits, compliance and safety training (OSHA).
  • Participates in recruitment, evaluation, and management of PA and CRNP employees.
  • Troubleshoot problems in clinical areas. Work in conjunction with clinical staff to resolve issues.
  • Primary contact for patient complaints or other clinical issues on behalf of the physician in his/her absence.

Qualifications

  • Post-baccalaureate degree required
  • 5 years as a certified nurse practitioner, physician assistant or relevant managerial experience required (at least 3 of the 5 years from APP experience)
  • 3 years experience in the department specialty preferred
  • PA: A graduate of a Physician Assistant program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA) is required.
  • CRNP: The successful completion of an approved Nurse Practitioner program is required.This position is dependent upon successful attainment and maintenance of hospital privileges, if applicable to the Business Unit practice.


Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
CRNP: National certification, eligible for licensure by board of nursing for the practicing state, eligible for certification as a CRNP by the practicing state's board of nursing.CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire
 

 

 

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
  • Act 33 with renewal
  • Act 34 with renewal
  • Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
