Performs the daily functions of the housekeeping department in accordance with current federal, state and local standards, guidelines, and regulations governing the facility and facility procedures to assure that the facility is maintained in a clean, safe, and comfortable manner
Responsibilities:
- Follows established policies and procedures of the housekeeping department.
- Collects all trash and refuse from patient/resident areas daily and stores in a manner to make it inaccessible to insects and rodents.
- Reports all incidents/accidents immediately.
- Assures that all resident rooms and furnishings are visibly as well as antiseptically clean.
- Maintains all cleaning supplies and toxic materials in labeled containers under safe and sanitary conditions, out of the reach of residents and visitors.
- Assists others in lifting heavy equipment, supplies, etc. as directed or requested.
- Reports any suspected or known resident abuse to Director of Nursing or Administrator immediately.
- Reports burned-out light bulbs, exit lights, overhead lights, fluorescent lights, room-call lights, etc., immediately.
- Cleans and makes sanitary all bathrooms, residents? rooms, public areas, offices and service areas.
- Maintains carts and cleaning equipment in a clean working condition. Reports any malfunctions immediately.
- Provides a clean and sanitary environment for the well being of the residents, visitors and staff.
- Maintains good housekeeping and sanitation standards at all times.
- Follows established fire safety policies and procedures.
- Attends departmental and staff meetings and all mandatory inservices.
- Prevents the development and transmission of infections, by following the infection control policies and procedures.
- Maintains the facility by assuring its contents are free from dust, dirt, debris and noxious odors.
- Performs terminal cleaning procedures, as instructed, when residents are discharged and/or transferred.
- Maintains all floors are clean and free from spillage; and uses non-skid wax on all waxed floors.
- Maintains all rooms and corridors in a clean, safe and orderly condition. Assures that all rooms are properly ventilated to prevent condensation, mold growth and noxious odors.
- Anticipates and acts to maintain a safe work environment. Incorporates safety/risk management standards into daily work practices.
- Cleans walls, ceilings, doors, windows and screens on a rotating schedule.
- Assures that work/cleaning schedules are followed.
- Follows established safety precautions when performing tasks and using equipment and supplies. Reports all hazardous conditions or equipment immediately.
- Assures work/assignment areas free of hazardous objects, such as protruding mop/broom handles, unnecessary equipment, supplies, etc.
Qualifications
The Jan. 13 Supreme Court of the United States decision that the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services federal COVID-19 vaccine mandate will move forward requires UPMC to ensure individuals either get vaccinated or receive a requested medical or religious exemption by Jan. 27. For individuals who choose an mRNA vaccine, a second dose of Pfizer or Moderna must be received by Monday, Feb. 28, or within the designated timeframe after your first dose is received.
While the deadlines have passed, it’s not too late to get your first shot or request a medical or religious exemption. We each play a part in reaching 100% in our COVID-19 vaccination efforts.
