Description

We're looking for a Research Writer to join our UPMC Quality Team! This is a regular, full-time position that primarily works daylight hours, Monday through Friday, with some remote work flexibility.

The Research Writer is a writing intensive position and we're seeking an individual with a background in clinical research.

In this role, the Research Writer at the Wolff Center will write and coordinate research publications that communicate UPMC's significant clinical, quality, safety and innovative advances. This writing-intensive position will serve as a respected expert in communicating accurate, clear, and compelling content for manuscripts, presentations, and other material as it relates primarily to health care quality and improvement practices, and will report to the Wolff Center's Senior Manager, Research Writer.

Responsibilities:

  • The Research Writer shall assume responsibility for identifying and communicating--primarily through high-impact, published research--innovations and advances in clinical quality and safety at UPMC to achieve the health systems strategic goals.
  • Identify meaningful research findings worthy of publication that advance UPMC's clinical and reputational goals.
  • Tell the story expressed in UPMC's quality and clinical data and advise on the best options for conveying that story to UPMC's target audiences.
  • Engage and motivate a cadre of subject matter experts across clinical disciplines and service lines who can contribute to writing and dissemination of scientific knowledge.
  • Apply scientific principles and biomedical knowledge to understand, organize, and describe complex data for scientific, medical, and lay audiences.
  • Provide project management for required document preparation, including organizing document preparation, interpreting scientific and statistical data, writing the documents, and ensuring their review by relevant parties.
  • Collaborate with investigators across UPMC and the University of Pittsburgh Schools of the Health Sciences.
  • Write and coordinate research manuscripts and other key documents.

 

Qualifications

  • Advanced degree in a health science discipline, PhD highly preferred.
  • Three years of research writing required.
  • Evidence of scholarly peer-reviewed publications.
  • Project management experience highly desired.
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines and work independently on complex tasks.
  • Ability to read and interpret clinical research publications.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft office suite.
