Children's Advocacy Center of Lawrence County, Inc. is hiring a Regular Full Time Family Recovery Specialist. This position will be Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. with occassional evenings or weekends for special events and community outreach. The position requires travel throughout Lawrence County to meet clients in their homes, and a Certified Family Recovery Specialist or Certified Peer Specialist or Recovery Coach certification must be obtained within one year of hire.

Family Recovery Specialist (FRS) will help families move into and through the recovery process. A FRS understands the stigma associated with opioid and substance use disorder and its impact on the family. The FRS provides support and enhancement that promotes positive outcomes. The FRS are individuals with lived experience who provide non-clinical support as a fully integrated treatment team member and educator for families. The FRS shares their lived experience with other families to provide recovery support services. The FRS are role models of recovery values and principles by helping families to identify and remove barriers and triggers to the recovery process. The FRS works full time as part of a dedicated multi-disciplinary team providing emotional and informational support.



  • Meet regularly with Supervisor for guidance and supervision.
  • Develop family service plans related to substance use/mental health, trauma, relapse prevention, recovery support, and parenting.
  • Provide outreach, engagement and recovery support to families with opioid substance use disorders.
  • Identify and collaborate with providers of Medication Assisted Treatment to support access to MAT as needed for clients.
  • Coordinate closely with other agency staff.
  • Assist families to identify and access community treatment, support, and other resources.
  • Work with collaterals and other professionals involved with client/family.
  • Regularly re-assess families and update family service plans as needed.
  • Other duties as required.
  • Identify community resources to support families in accessing recovery support, relapse prevention, and parenting support services.



High School Diploma/GED required. Certified Family Recovery Specialist or Certified Peer Specialist or Recovery Coach required within 12 months of hire. Three or more years work experience as a peer preferred.Self-identified as having lived recovery along with demonstrated sobriety under non-residential, independent living conditions in the immediate past two year.

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
Certified Family Recovery Specialist or Certified Peer Specialist or Recovery Coach required within 12 months of hire.
