Description
We are a tertiary-level psychiatric outpatient program for children, adolescents, and young adults on the autism spectrum or with developmental disorders. We serve as a training site for professionals in the field, conduct cutting-edge research and serve over 2500 individuals and families annually. Our staff is interdisciplinary, including psychology, psychiatry, pediatrics, social work, and behavior analysis.
The ideal candidate will have prior experience with autism, group interventions, family treatments, and individual and family therapy in autism.
The dress code is business casual. Will rotate between the Southside and Pine locations. Parking is free at the Pine location. Street parking is available in the Southside.
Responsibilities:
- Demonstrates ability to maintain accurate and complete records and data collection, performed in a timely fashion.
- Maintains knowledge of the literature relevant to the relevant patient population.
- Provides crisis sessions to support and assist patients experiencing acute distress and/or symptoms, as needed.
- Maintains current knowledge of relevant literature and empirically validated treatments.
- Demonstrates highly developed knowledge and skill in the area of differential diagnosis of psychiatric disorders.
- Schedules sufficient volume of patients so that direct service productivity standards are maintained within the department.
- Performs psychological assessment with accurate diagnostic impressions.
- Provides formal teaching and supervision for staff and trainees.
- Provides behavioral health services, using empirically validated treatments and interventions.
- Consults and collaborates with multidisciplinary teams regarding patient care and treatment planning.
- Provides behavioral health services in using an acute and maintenance model.
- Participates in regular supervisory meetings with direct supervisor to review adherence to program standards.
- Works collaboratively with other service lines at UPMC and outside agencies assuring continuity of care with referral sources and other providers. May participate in research efforts by assisting in subject recruitment, conducting research assessments or treatment, as directed by supervisor.
Qualifications
- Doctoral degree in Psychology (PsyD or PhD) from an accredited institution.
- 3 years of experience in Psychology or related field.
- Post-doctoral fellowship in the position-specific area (preferred).
- Excellent clinical interviewing and assessment/therapy skills to work with patients and families. Strong interpersonal skills.

- Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
- Comprehensive Crisis Management (CCMC)
- Psychologist
- Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting with renewal
- Act 33 with renewal
- Act 34 with renewal
- Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
