Description

UPMC University of Pittsburgh Physicians is currently hiring a Licensed Practical Nurse for their Urology office at St. Margaret's Hospital!  The preferred candidate will have strong communication skills. Epic/EpicCare experience, previous office experience, able to multitask and have strong computer skills.

This is a Monday-Friday, daylight position, with the hours of 8:30am-4pm.  No evenings, weekends or holidays required.

Responsibilities will be primarily back office but employee will eventually be cross-trained to work the front should coverage be needed.  Daily tasks will include but are not limited to; rooming patients, taking patient vitals, documenting in patients electronic medical record, answering all email communications in a timely manner, answering all patient messages within Epic, corresponding with patients to relay/explain test results, answering patient phone calls, helping MD with all in office procedures, giving patient injections, helping with all other tasks as assigned by manager.

Sign-On Bonus May Be Available. 

Purpose:
Provides professional nursing care to office patients under supervision of patient care providers.

Responsibilities:

 

  • Draw blood.
  • Comply with requirements of appropriate regulatory agencies (i.e. OSHA, CLIA, PA Department of Health).
  • Administer medications including oral, SQ, IM and IV drip.
  • Assist physicians with examinations, diagnostic procedures and treatments.
  • Assess patient's general condition and take vital signs and weight.
  • Comply with all policies and procedures.
  • Perform IV therapy under direction of Registered Nurse.
  • Document all activities/interventions, patient/family responses, medication dispensed/prescribed, etc., in the medical record.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality related to medical records and other data.
  • Promote wellness by providing patient education materials, communicating physician advice/instructions.

 

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an approved LPN school of nursing.
  • One year clinical experience preferred.


Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire
 

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) OR Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
  • Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
