Description

UPMC Community Medicine Incorporated is seeking a full-time Licensed Practical Nurse, OP to support UPMC Partners In Health - Harrison City!

This position will work daylight hours, Monday through Friday, in an outpatient setting! Occasionally, the LPN may be required to travel to other local practice sites to provide coverage, as needed.

The Licensed Practical Nurse, OP provides professional nursing care to office patients under the supervision of patient care providers. Responsibilities for this position primarily include, but are not limited to, heavy phone triage, processing prescription refills, and pulling and relaying test results. 

Proficient computer skills are preferred, while strong interpersonal, phone etiquette, and communication skills are vital to this role. Previous office experience is ideal, while a working knowledge of EPIC and/or EpicCare is a plus!

Responsibilities:

  • Comply with requirements of appropriate regulatory agencies (i.e. OSHA, CLIA, PA Department of Health).
  • Administer medications, including oral, SQ, IM, and IV drips.
  • Assist physicians with examinations, diagnostic procedures, and treatments.
  • Assess patient's general condition, and take vital signs and weight.
  • Comply with all policies and procedures.
  • Perform under direction of Registered Nurse.
  • Document all activities/interventions, patient/family responses, medication dispensed/prescribed, etc., in the medical record.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality related to medical records and other data.
  • Promote wellness by providing patient education materials, communicating physician advice/instructions.

 

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an approved LPN school of nursing.
  • One year of clinical experience preferred.
  • Previous work experience in an office setting preferred.
  • Proficient computer and phone etiquette skills preferred.
  • Working knowledge of EPIC and/or EpicCare is a plus. 


Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire.

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) OR Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
  • Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
