Res Project Coordinator WPIC | Sleep, Affective Neuroscience, and Development

Description

The Sleep, Affective Neuroscience, and Development Lab is looking for a Res Project Coordinator WPIC! In this position you will oversee research coordination in a laboratory studying the influence of sleep-circadian rhythms on brain development, behavioral performance, and mood dysregulation in adolescents and young adults. This position is responsible for oversight on NIMH, DoD, and foundation-supported human subject projects. In this role you will provide project coordination of multiple studies, conduct clinical and behavioral research protocols, and provide lab management assistance to the Principal Investigator.

The ideal candidate would be highly organized; detail-oriented; have an ability to prioritize among multiple tasks; and possess strong interpersonal skills including teamwork, friendliness, communication, dependability, flexibility, and leadership. 

This individual will work closely with other research staff, a data manager, and undergraduate volunteers, as well as with the staff of the Sleep and Behavioral Neuroscience Center and the Magnetic Resonance Research Center. This is a Regular Full-Time position with hours ranging primarily Monday – Friday. Occasional evening/weekend hours will be required to accommodate research participants’ schedules.

This position is grant funded.

Purpose:

To provide coordination and support for special projects and daily activities for the Sleep, Affective Neuroscience, and Development Lab.

Responsibilities:

  • Organize daily activities for lab and research study protocols
  • Supervision and schedule management for junior staff and undergraduate volunteers
  • Coordination of participant recruitment, tracking, and retention
  • Manage scheduling of assessments and participant payments
  • Administer informed consent and assent
  • Conduct screening and clinical interviews 
  • Responsible for preparing and modifying IRB protocols, Regulatory Binders, and Standard Operating Procedures
  • Communicate effectively with relevant research, clinical, and administrative staff.
  • Partner with administrators on purchasing and budget management
  • Demonstrate respect and sensitivity to study participants. Interact skillfully with adolescent, young adult, and clinical populations.
  • Handle sensitive clinical and research data in compliance with University, State and federal requirements.
  • Complete and pass on-line ethics and research practice training modules as required by the University of Pittsburgh and the National Institutes of Health. Completes other trainings as required by the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center.
  • Perform in accordance with system-wide competencies/behaviors.

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

  • Comprehensive Crisis Management (CCMC)
  • Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting with renewal
  • Act 33 with renewal
  • Act 34 with renewal
  • Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
