Description
Purpose:
Under supervision, performs a variety of entry level duties related to and involving the processing and preparing of room, equipment and supplies for the patients undergoing anesthetic procedures.
Responsibilities:
- Retrieves and appropriately distributes the equipment as directed to prepare a patient for anesthesia.
- Assists in turning over rooms assuring minimal downtime between cases.
- Helps maintain an adequate supply of all stock items in work room and keeps the work room clean and in an orderly condition.
- Under supervision disassembles, decontaminates and sterilizes anesthesia equipment and supplies.
- Assists in stocking the carts and surgical suites with the required supplies as outlined on the anesthesia surgical suite stock par list.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- 6 months - 1 year of health care experience preferred.
- If no previous hospital or pre-hospital training, successful completion of UPMC anesthesia technician class required.
- Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to progress to an Anesthesia Technician position within 6months to 1 year of hire.
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
Act 31 within 90 days of hire or transfer
- Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting with renewal
- Act 33 with renewal
- Act 34 with renewal
- Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
