UPMC Wellsboro is currently hiring a full-time Occupational Health Specialist (Athletic Trainer is required) to support the WorkCenter at Wellsboro. We provide healthcare services to employers and their workforce in and around Wellsboro through their location at 25 Walnut St. This role may also travel to any employer we serve across Occupational Health's locations in Lycoming, Clinton, and Tioga Counties.

 This role will work 8a-4:30p with on-call rotation every 3rd or 4th week.

Provides support to Occupational Medicine providers and support staff in the clinic setting. Develops and executes physical demand testing. Travels to and provides on-site review, testing, education at requesting employer facilities.



  • Performs substance abuse testing on call for Emergency Departments within UPMC North Central PA. 
  • Develops documents for employer health and safety including postural instruction, lifting techniques, ergonomically efficient manufacturing processes, and preventative exercise programs. Provides Education Reviews Ergonomics Reviews Wellness
  • Develops and performs physical demand testing after reviewing working conditions (at employer facilities), job descriptions, and ergonomic considerations.
  • Provides operation of the mobile unit to employer facilities receiving on-site services (as needed 24/7).
  • Performs substance abuse testing in clinic and employer facilities (as needed 24/7).
  • Assists medical staff with patient care in clinics and at employer facilities (as needed 24/7). 
  • Develops and maintains liaisons with the business community through public outreach, health fairs, and education events.
  • Performs medical surveillance testing in clinic and employer facilities (as needed 24/7). Which includes: Spirometry, Audiometry, Visual Assessments, Vital Signs



Minimum of a Bachelor of Science or Art degree. Ability to quickly establish rapport with students, physicians, staff and co-workers. Highly organized and able to prioritize assignments. Reliable transportation and willingness to travel to worksites within local area required.

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
Within 90 days of hire the following certifications are needed: Breath Alcohol Certification Certified Professional Collector (through DATIA) Spirometry (National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health) Audiometry (Certified Occupational Hearing Conservationist)

  • Athletic Trainer
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
  • Act 33 with renewal
  • Act 34 with renewal
  • Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
