University of Pittsburgh Physicians is seeking a full-time Project Manager, HVI to support the UPMC Heart and Vascular Institute at UPMC Presbyterian!

The HVI Project Manager will work daylight hours, Monday through Friday, with some travel required to other local HVI sites to train and supervise staff. This role will directly support and work with the Robotics Program!

The HVI Project Manager will define and develop overall project objectives, scopes, and work plans, and will dynamically lead presentations and work sessions to positively influence decisions and perceptions. This role directly interfaces with internal clients to review, confirm, and facilitate business process enhancements and contracts within the Heart and Vascular Institute. Additionally, the HVI Project Manager manages ambiguous situations with minimal direction, and builds, directs, and maintains motivated and diverse teams.

The ideal candidate for this position will have previous healthcare work experience, with previous experience in robotics being a plus!


  • Plan and execute communication of complex information to team members and stakeholder groups.
  • Prioritize tasks based on relative importance and urgency, and identify dependencies across projects.
  • Recognize and act decisively in urgent matters, making tough decisions that may influence the direction of the project.
  • Anticipate key business and project issues, assess alternatives, and take appropriate measures to resolve in a professional, tactful manner, implementing comprehensive recommendations to achieve desired outcome.
  • Assist team members in resolving project problems, escalate issues when necessary, and facilitate decision-making.
  • Define alternative/compromise solutions that address others' fundamental concerns and impacts on long-term relationships.
  • Systematically convey pros and cons of alternative solutions to complex, sophisticated, and sensitive issues, and then achieve consensus on direction/ approach.
  • Cooperate closely with business leaders and/or relevant experts in resolving issues.
  • Identify and mitigate business risks associated with projects.
  • Demonstrate ability to prepare sensitive information and communicate it directly to senior management.
  • Generate new perspectives, frameworks, or innovations that enable problem resolution.
  • Generate innovative ideas which are strategically sound and challenge the status quo.
  • Develop and maintain detailed project plans, which includes utilizing standard project documentation and methodology and project tracking and reporting procedures.
  • Plan, organize, and control multiple responsibilities and solicit participation from cross-functional resources not under personal control, and ensure that the most appropriate resources are assigned to specific project roles.
  • Draft faculty offer letters, employment exhibits, faculty incentive plans, professional services agreements, and associated supporting documents, as requested.
  • Recognize and anticipate scope issues and communicate changes to the work plan to internal clients and team.
  • Provide concise and timely status reporting, as required.
  • Direct and execute creative analytic approaches/create new or adapt existing analytical methods and tools to solve problems.
  • Develop and implement key metrics to measure and report on progress of initiatives.
  • Build follow-up mechanism/maintenance plan into project deliverables to ensure that changes to be implemented will be sustainable.
  • Ensure business value has been delivered.



  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Mathematics, Statistics, Health Care, Management, or related field, or RN.
  • Master's Degree preferred.
  • Extensive related experience will be considered.
  • Minimum of four years of project management or operations experience.
  • Experience in healthcare industry preferred.
  • Excellent computer skills required, including Access, Excel, Microsoft Project, and other pertinent computer software packages.
  • Strong management, problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills (oral and written) required.
  • Excellent Project Management skills, along with effective planning and organizational skills.
  • Ability to perform planning for large initiatives/projects, managing all tasks required to provide services to meet client and business needs within budget and targeted deadlines.
