Trainer

Description

The Trainer is responsible for planning, designing, coordinating, and delivering training on UPMC Health Plan products to new and existing employees within various departments.

This role is eligible for long-term partial work from home privileges, (privilege eligibility is subject to continued achievement of business goals and on-site department needs).

Responsibilities:

 

  • Assembles and implements departmental policy and procedure to support objectives. Lends support to formal and informal departmental work groups as needed.  
  • Completes special projects and performs related duties as assigned. This may include one-off projects or long-term  
  • Coordinates all aspects of the training process, including industry research, materials development, program delivery, student testing, and assessment. Programs should be targeted to the specific level of knowledge and need for each training group.
  • Maintains a positive classroom environment for staff members to support the experience, skill, knowledge, and capabilities of employees. Adapts to fit technological needs of participants as they arise. 
  • Designs, develops, and delivers training programs related to UPMC Health Plan Commercial, Medicare, and Medicaid products/services/benefits and supporting applications. These programs should be targeted to the specific level of product knowledge need within each department.
  • Updates media spaces to reflect newest learning opportunities and training documentation.
  • Develops and implements methods to assess current and future staff training requirements; make recommendations to management regarding program requirements and costs.
  • Maintains work activity reports, employee training profiles; submits reports as required.
  • Serves as a role model of Service Excellence by providing quality training and development services that are responsive to client needs, proactive in scope and accessible in nature. Using the Basics of Service Excellence as a guide, responds to the needs of individual employees, departments, or other organizations with courtesy, respect, and a positive outlook that reflects the team effort of the department.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in education, business, or other related field required or two years of direct experience in managed care and/or indemnity environment with at least one year of experience in delivery of staff training programs.
  • Experience in methods and techniques of adult education with demonstrated success.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and written communication skills.
  • Strong leadership skills and independent decision-making abilities a must.
  • Expert process and project management skills required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products is essential.
