Description

Purpose:
Coordinate and supervise day to day activities of the patient services, retail and catering operations. Provide for consistently high quality food and service in these areas through effective training and management of supervisory staff. Participate as a member of the department management team and assist in the general operation of the department to support the facility's mission and vision. Oversee department purchasing and food production techniques and volumes.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee process of ensuring quality food products upon delivery.
  • Assure that UPMC Health System specifications for purchasing are adhered to.
  • Participate in department budget development.
  • Prepare union work schedule.
  • Assist Food Service Director in assuring that food service operation meets departmental guidelines for patient and customer service and satisfaction.
  • Oversee invoice processing.
  • Conduct appropriate meetings and in-services as needed.
  • Oversee department security with regards to food products.
  • Participate in performance evaluation and competency verification.
  • Oversee sanitation of department and HACCP measures for receiving, storage, food handling, food preparation and service.
  • Participate in menu planning for retail, catering, and patient services.
  • Oversee inventory and ordering processes, maintain inventory level of 1.2 to 1.5 weeks on hand.
  • Maintain effective systems for food production and delivery.
  • Participate in development and adjustment of department policies and procedures.
  • Represent UPMC McKeesport Food & Nutrition Department on system and hospital committees as assigned.

 

Qualifications

B.S. degree in food service management, food and nutrition, or other related curriculum preferred. 2 years supervisory experience in institutional food service preparation and services preferred. Knowledge of union contract administration preferred.

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
Clearances must be dated within 90 days.

  • Act 34 with renewal
  • Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
