UPMC complies with all governmental requirements related to local, state, and federal COVID-19 vaccination for employment. The Jan. 13 Supreme Court of the United States decision that the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services federal COVID-19 vaccine mandate will move forward requires UPMC to ensure employees either get vaccinated or receive a requested medical or religious exemption.

Description

UPMC Western Maryland is seeking a Regular Part-time Dispatcher to join their Patient Transport team! The dispatcher is responsible for the effective daily operation of Patient Transportation services on his/her assigned shift by providing effectice management of dispatch requests, efficient coordination of staffassignments, and oversight of staff productivity. This position will work varying shifts to support the department, including rotating weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities:

  • Communicates effectively and appropriately. Uses good judgment as to what to communicate to whom as wellas the best way to get that accomplished. Speaks in a clear and credible manner, selecting the right tone forthe situation and audience. Listens to others and allows them to make their point.
  • Clearly demonstrates a desire for a high level of satisfaction among customers. Communicates regularly withexisting customers and makes it clear that customers can initiate conversations about concerns or issues.Accurately assesses the level of customers satisfaction through both confidential surveys and ongoingdialogue.
  • Demonstrates ability to work independently, with minimum supervision, as evidenced by using good judgmentand following written and verbal instructions carefully. Reports clearly. Seeks guidance and direction asnecessary for the successful completion of duties. makes decisions in the absence of Director or Supervisor.
  • Prioritizes task and manages time to ensure that deadlines are met. Prevents or manages interruptions untilthe highest priority tasks are accomplished. Consistently plans time to ensure adherence to timelines.Proactively renegotiates timeline when necessary, ensuring consensus among all stakeholders.

 

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/GED is required.
  • Previous dispatcher or transport experience in a hospital setting preferred.
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment preferred.
  • Good comunication skills strongly preferred.


Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
BLS - Basic Life Support is required, but will provide training if necessary.
