UPMC Hamot Dietary is currently hiring a Nutrition Tech to join their team! This position will work varied hours as well as rotated holidays and weekends.
The Nutrition Tech is responsible for operating the call center where patients place their meal orders. Utilizing a computerized menu system, the Nutrition Tech guides the patient through the menu-ordering process, within the constraints of their therapeutic diet order and safety considerations.
Purpose:
To assist patients with the menu process. To guide patient food choices in compliance with the physician's diet order. To screen patients for nutrition needs. To deliver excellent customer service.
Responsibilities:
- Supports a positive working relationship with other and actively supports and participates in performance improvement activities. Demonstrates Hamot's commitment to Service Excellence by understanding the needs of patients, their families, physicians and co-workers and doing what is required the first time, every time by being responsible, sensitive, accurate, timely, coordinated and thorough.
- Possesses the ability to obtain and interpret information considering age specific needs.Assures accurate implementation of the diet prescription.Demonstrates exceptional customer service behaviors through all interactions.Completes all clerical activities and processes orders appropriately.Completes assigned patient activities. Participates in meal tray and nourishment delivery.
Qualifications
Preferred: Associate Degree in diet therapy or a related field; or High school graduate or equivalent with two years of technical experience in a hospital setting or a related area preferred.
Verbal and written communication skills.This position typically reports to the Clinical Manager.
