UPMC Presbyterian Prescription Shop is looking for a Full-Time Pharmacy Ops Specialist, Associate to join their retail pharmacy team and help them grow their Meds to Beds discharge program.

This position will collaborate with unit staff including nurses, prescribers, care managers, social workers, and pharmacists to remove any prescription barriers for patients prior to discharge, as well as preparing and delivering medications to patients and/or nursing units under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist. The right candidate is an independent, patient-focused worker who can handle a fast paced environment.

UPMC Presbyterian Prescription Shop is open from 7:00am to 7:00pm, 7 days a week including holidays. This inventory focused position will primarily work Monday through Friday from 10:30am-7:00pm, staff occasional weekends, and have an assigned holiday schedule. The right candidate is an independent, patient-focused worker who can handle a fast paced environment.

This role is eligible for a $5,000 sign on bonus, with a two year commitment to UPMC!

Key Responsibilities

• Review the inventory and purchasing needs on a daily basis

• Coordinate resolution of all inventory order problems (i.e. back orders, manufacturer outs)

• Periodically coordinate review of inventory for expired, damaged, or overstocked medications

• Experience with Parata or other pharmacy automation systems a plus

  • Ensure that all medications in all areas have been safely and securely stored according to Department of Health, The Joint Commission, and State Board of Pharmacy regulations.
  • Demonstrate a service orientation in all interpersonal relations. Conveys a positive, professional image at all times.
  • Use computer skills to process and document information as needed for Operations Specialist's designated area

  • Create and evaluate policy, procedure, and training materials regarding operational workflow
  • Perform assigned job responsibilities with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.



  • Completion of high school diploma or equivalent required OR
  • Completion of an accredited Pharmacy Technician Program AND one of the following:
  • Two years of previous pharmacy technician experience
  • Enrollment in good standing as a pharmacy student
  • Demonstrated competency in all detailed aspects of the Pharmacy Operations Specialists DESIGNATED area which includes (Inventory Control, Chemotherapy, Medication Safety, Automation, Information Technology..etc)
