Director, Program Innovation & Improvement Medicare

Description

Purpose:
Under the administrative direction of the UPMC Insurance Services Division and Associate Vice President of Medicare, the Director of Program Innovation and Improvement will oversee a cross-functional development team within the Medicare division. This team will tackle highly complex and undefined business needs to accelerate, innovate, integrate, and continuously improve high-priority initiatives on behalf of the Medicare product line across the Insurance Service Division.

*This position is required to report into the office 3 days each week in downtown Pittsburgh- role is NOT 100% remote elgible.

Responsibilities:

  • Have an executive level presence; often including inputs and considerations of broad government insurance product lines, market or strategic trends, financial investments, operations, and technology that will impact multiple areas for the Medicare product and the Insurance Services Division.
  • The Director must have a strong ability to drive parallel high priority initiatives in a fast-paced environment leveraging executive-level leadership and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Lead oversight in three core-areas:
    • Acceleration and Alignment- support defining, accelerating, and aligning current and future product development priorities for Medicare across the Insurance Service Division.
    • Product Innovation- support improving and innovating program designs for the Medicare products. Key focus areas in digital/self-service models, product line advancement, and technology solutions.
    • Strategic planning- develop plans to help assess and identify new and enhanced opportunities.
  • Additionally, performs in accordance with system wide competencies/behaviors.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 

 

Qualifications

Qualifications - Internal

  • Bachelor's Degree required
  • Master's Degree preferred
  • 7 years Healthcare Related Experience required
  • Certification in related area of expertise preferred (PMP and Scaled Agilist)
  • Management and/or leadership experience preferred.
  • Proficient knowledge in MS Office and PC skills required.
  • Strong project management, problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills (oral and written) are required.
  • Ability to perform planning for large initiatives/projects, as well as manage all tasks required to meet departmental and business needs within budget and targeted deadlines.
  • Strong leadership skills and independent decision-making and critical thinking ability.

 

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
Certification in related area of expertise preferred (PMP and Scaled Agilist)
