UPMC Community Medicine is currently hiring for a regular Full Time Healthy Beginnings Coordinator (RN) to work with the Latterman Family Health Center which is a Primary Care Residency Practice located in McKeesport, PA.  

This position will work Monday through Friday daylight hours and have a primary responsibility with Women's Health in an OB/GYN office setting.

Identifies potential risks/problems and coordinates follow-up care for the obstetrical patients. Participates in patient and family education. Works cooperatively with physicians and all other disciplines. Acts as a liaison contact for residents and faculty.


  • Assemble and record problems and follow-up actions on the Comprehensive Problem List in the client's prenatal record.
  • Arrange for transportation to appointments and to the hospital, if necessary.
  • Secure authorization as per Healthy Beginnings and managed care guidelines.
  • Discuss with the client the risks/problems identified by other health care staff and follow-up action.
  • Provide initial and periodic health promotion that includes topics specified in the Care Coordinator Health Promotion Log.
  • Follow up on missed appointments.
  • Act as a liaison between delivering hospital and the OB patient by providing and maintaining records and telephone triage to the hospital, the answering service, and the physicians.
  • Perform intake and subsequent interviews with OB patients to identify nutrition and psychosocial risks/problems using the Care Coordination Record.
  • Facilitate patient referrals to specialists and resource providers as needed.
  • Maintain monthly statistics and OB List.
  • Complete WIC Certification Data on each client.



  • Completion of an accredited professional school of nursing required.
  • 3-5 years of OB/GYN clinical experience and experience providing maternal health education required.
  • Ability to move within the unit and lift/move patients, equipment, and supplies as required.
  • Ability to manipulate equipment used in the performance of duties.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
  • Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Act 33 with renewal
  • Act 34 with renewal
  • Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
