Description

The General Maintenance hire will support Angora Gardens, a three-acre piece of land located near Allegheny County's White Oak Park. Angora Gardens provides free health and wellness activities as well as volunteer opportunities in addition to hosting several community social events per year. 

The hire for this role will be responsible for maintaining the outside grounds. The preferred candidate will have prior experience in horticulture, but it is not required. This is a part-time position. The schedule will vary and include daylight as well as the occasional evenings and weekends depending on program activities and events.

Parking is free on-site and the dress code is casual. There are two resident cats on sire for awareness for those who may have cat-related allergies. 


Responsibilities:

 

  • Perform general maintenance work and tasks as directed with minimal supervision.
  • Exhibit a basic knowledge of electricity, carpentry/hardware repairs, and mechanical equipment and systems.
  • Assist with and maintain general cleaning duties on equipment and in mechanical support areas.
  • Perform specific preventive maintenance on a variety of equipment.
  • Perform all work following infection control procedures.
  • Record personal work orders and submit hours to supervisor on a daily basis.
  • Maintain clean and safe work area, equipment rooms and shop areas.
  • Perform any maintenance work required in which skills can be utilized.
  • Ability to work in extreme weather conditions.
  • Assist in snow removal.

 

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Completion of a trade school program is preferred.
  • One year of general maintenance-related work experience is preferred.

Driver?s License
 

  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
  • Comprehensive Crisis Management (CCMC)
  • Driver's License
  • Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting with renewal
  • Act 33 with renewal
  • Act 34 with renewal
  • Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
