UPMC is immediately hiring RNs interested in joining our SWAT (“Supplemental Work and Transition”) nursing team in Central PA. This is the team that travels between facilities to help with RN needs when we are short staffed. We are specifically looking for RNs with experience in ED, med-surg/stepdown, telemetry, multi-specialty, acute care, and ICU/CCU.

 

This SWAT RN position is also eligible for a sign-on bonus! -

 

  • 1+ years of experience:  2-year commitment, $15,000

*Current UPMC employees are not eligible for the sign-on bonus program.

 

Responsibilities:

In this role you can expect to travel at least 50% of the time. Depending on where you live, that could be up to 100%.  If you live in Altoona or Bedford areas, you will see less travel because those are the locations we send our SWAT team to most often.  These are 6-week assignments working in our Central PA facilities, including:

 

  • UPMC Altoona
  • UPMC Bedford
  • UPMC Susquehanna
  • UPMC Somerset

 

This is a great opportunity to change up your environment and learn from different teams. Depending on which facility you are at we will provide mileage, hotel and meals.

Qualifications

Experience Required:

  • One (1) year nursing experience required.
  • Experience in 2 specialties so that you are able to hit the ground running when you start at a new facility.
  • Available to work 72 hours in a bi-weekly pay period


Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

  • BLS/CPR, ACLS
  • NIH/NIHSS required within 60 days of hire
  • Registered Nurse (RN)

 

Once you accept an offer – but before you start, you will need the following (we will provide instructions on how to obtain):

  • Act 33 Child Clearance, Act 34 Criminal Clearance, and Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewals
