UPMC is hiring an Associate Systems Engineer to join their team! This role will support Clinical Analytics IT project efforts.
Support includes Software Engineer responsibilities and uses input from domain experts and knowledge gained from research to produce documentation that provides value to the Analytics efforts. Provide clear, effective, and professionally formatted documentation & communications.
This position will focus on the delivery of assessments of enterprise technologies to ensure alignment with UPMC business strategy. The Systems Engineer – Enterprise Architecture will drive continued development of the Enterprise Architecture practice at UPMC through standards definition and process implementation. Part of this role will also include guiding the Application Selection process from a business capability perspective and may provide support for other EA projects, as assigned.
Responsibilities:
- Communication-Excellent verbal and written communication skills utilizing analytics to develop summaries, presentations, and executive reports.
- Tracks and reports project progress, Assist in the assessment requirements and changes and make recommendations regarding opportunities for improvement. Perform fact-finding and analyses related to operational initiatives and special projects.
- Team Leadership/Development-Supports project team members and colleagues. Builds strong relationships with colleagues and IT partners. Skillfully handles situations and creates positive outcomes. Demonstrates self-awareness..
- Relevant Technical/Business Knowledge-Experience in a similar technical/industry.
- Process Oriented-Utilizes organizational processes and standards to provide consistent and excellent release and change management services. Understands the need and value to continually define and/or improve processes. Assist in the development and modification of policies, guidelines, procedures, systems, and documentation to support best practices.
- Write supporting documentation for programming code, including operations procedures for maintenance of interface and trouble-shooting documentation for support and technical documentation for the technical project team and business users.
- Project Management - Complete basic project-related tasks and tasks delegated by more senior members of the team. Responsible for time tracking and updating documentation.
- Maintenance/Upgrades - Follow documented procedures for maintenance and upgrades. Responsible for assisting with Disaster Recovery Plan.

- Typically has familiarity with complex systems environments through education or practical experience.
- Ability to perform basic/standard IT procedures and protocols.
- This position may be required to maintain a 24/7 off hours support as part of a rotation within the team. The frequency varies based upon the number of colleagues in the rotation.
Preferred Qualifications
- Demonstrate thorough understanding of the fundamental tools and concepts of one of the
- Highly driven and self-motivated to exceed expectations.
- Ability to work independently and in a team based environment.
- Demonstrate mastery of communications in the form of technical manuals, procedural documentation, presentations, training materials, business communications, proposals, specifications, project plans, brochures, Web sites, and White Papers.
- Experience with educational, training, or awareness program development and management.
- Experience in building relationships, communicating, and coordinating with stakeholders.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word and PowerPoint, Desktop publishing or other technical writing tools. Experience with Microsoft 365, Teams, Azure DevOps and Atlassian Confluence is a huge plus.
- Knowledge of data analytics concepts is a plus
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to translate technical language to business users.
This is a remote position with workspace available at US Steel Tower or Forbes Tower (Pittsburgh, PA) if needed
