This position is part of UPMC's RN Night Program. Straight night RN assignments are eligible for a $2.00/ hour off-shift differential with an additional $2.00/ hour program differential. Straight Night Shift Nurses will earn $4.00 an hour extra every night shift worked.

ANCC Magnet designated UPMC Passavant currently hiring a Straight Nights Professional Staff Nurse to support the Resource Pool at our McCandless location. The Resource Pool provides support to the nursing units to ensure adequate staffing. The department is made up of full, time, part time, and casual nurses, nursing assistants, patient care technicians, and care attendants.
The department nursing staff requires a minimum of 1-2 years clinical experience as you are expected to float between the multiple areas. The staff are designated to either support the Med-Surg units, Critical Care areas and procedural areas related to experience as we try to supplement unit-based staff related to census surge, vacant positions, and other daily needs.
. Our RNs work a rotating schedule to ensure 24/7 coverage on the floor.

The Professional Staff Nurse is a valued step in the UPMC nursing career ladder, with opportunities for continued growth and advancement. Title and salary will be determined based upon education and nursing experience. Six months experience is required for Professional Staff Nurses.
Responsibilities:
- Applies the nursing process within the framework of Relationship Based Care to create a healing environment. Formulates daily goals and a plan of care for patients that involves the patient as partner and considers the individual needs of the patient in a holistic manner.
- Demonstrates critical thinking in the identification of clinical, social, safety, psychological, and spiritual issues for the patient within an episode of care.
- Practices solid communication skills and is able to articulate and translate the patient's condition to other care providers and to negotiate and make recommendations for changes in patient care and unit practices. Patient documentation is comprehensive and promotes communication between caregivers.
- Creates a caring and compassionate patient-focused experience by building healing relationships with patients, families, and colleagues.
- Incorporates national professional organization as well as business unit and health system goals to improve patient safety, quality, and satisfaction.
Qualifications
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
UPMC approved national certification preferred.Current Pennsylvania licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse.CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Basic arrhythmia experience PREFERRED
- Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
- Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
