We are searching for strategic business partner to join our UPMC Enterprises Human Resources Team as an Expert Human Resources Consultant.  If you are an advanced HR professional who has collaborated with senior leadership on HR initiatives, then this may be the perfect fit for you!

Under general direction of UPMC Enterprises’ Chief Talent leader, the Expert Human Resources Consultant will have primary responsibility for supporting UPMC Enterprises portfolio companies (NewCos) human resources needs, cultivating NewCo culture and talent agenda.  The Expert will serve as a strategic human resources business partner to NewCo and Enterprises leaders providing expert counseling and support on all aspects of human resources, including company creation, culture and employee engagement, employee relations, employee retention, talent acquisition, performance management, total rewards, organizational design, policy implementation, and process improvement.  The Expert must have proven ability to develop, propose, and present recommendations to senior level management.

The Expert Human Resources Consultant is a regular, full-time position that primarily works daylight hours, Monday through Friday, in a hybrid work model.  Some local travel in the Pittsburgh region is required.  Apply online today for your chance to join the team!


Responsibilities:

  • Act as the day to day HR content based expert for UPMC Enterprises portfolio companies (NewCos).  Independently able to advise all customers on all HR matters.
  • Support NewCo creation and growth by participating in due diligence activities, creating job descriptions and career ladders, compensation design, participating in all recruiting and hiring activities, ongoing employee relations, and retention planning
  • Lead HR activities related to NewCo launch and exit/sale/divestiture.
  • Takes lead role in business unit and system-wide projects and initiatives, participate on committees.
  • Independently able to work with all shared services to meet the needs of the customer.
  • Prepares and analyzes reports and metrics to provide sound recommendations.
  • Partner with leaders to provide and implement HR initiatives that support management and employees across the organization.
  • Collaborate with HR business and operational leaders to identify education gaps and development opportunities for management and employees.   Partners with management to provide consultation on coaching and mentorship for staff.
  • Collaborate with HR team to design and plan interventions that that facilitate organizational changes.
  • Drive change management practices to enable organizational effectiveness and foster a diversity & inclusion strategy that will maximize our competitive advantage and skills of the workforce.
  • Participate on local and/or organization wide committees that focus on projects that move the organization towards meeting its strategic goals.
  • Effectively communicate expectations with the business, operational, and HR partners while promoting a One Team collaborative atmosphere in which all functions of HR work together as one team.
  • Continuously improve skills and knowledge and upgrade business acumen, to stay abreast of industry trends.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, business or related field is required and at least four years of employee relations experience required.
    • OR High School Diploma/GED and six years of employee relations experience required.
  • Knowledge and understanding of federal, state and local legislation as it applies to human resources and the employment process is required
  • Experience with full cycle human resources is preferred, i.e. recruitment, on-boarding, learning and development, compensation, etc.
  • Collaborative partner with NewCo leadership and management, human resources, and shared services partners
  • Results-oriented and sense of urgency
  • Comfort with ambiguity and dynamic environment
  • Strong project management skills
  • Strong presentation skills; ability to create and deliver presentations for executive audience


Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
PHR, SPHR certification, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP certification or UPMC HCI Strategic HR Business Partner Certification required within the first year of hire for external candidates. Internal applicants within UPMC HR are required to have the certification requirements in place to be considered for promotional opportunities.
