We are searching for a Senior Statistics Manager to join our Office of Health Care Innovation. If you are a statistician with leadership experience, then this may be the perfect fit for you! 

In this role, the Senior Statistics Manager is responsible for independently coordinating and integrating data analysis across disparate projects. The Sr. Statistics Manager is also expected to participate as a member of the department's leadership team and to train and lead a team of statisticians, including via matrixed relationships with other UPMC departments and/or outside consultants. The Sr. Statistics Manager is also expected to work independently, in close partnership with interdisciplinary subject matter experts.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide instruction on statistical design and research methodology for OHI research teams. Serve as a resource for PIs leading OHI projects to assure optimal project design.Coordinate with other UPMC departments and external consultants who contribute to design of OHI projects (e.g. Clinical Analytics)
  • Lead a team of statisticians, providing oversight to statistical design. Train and supervise junior statisticians.Participate in departmental leadership meetings.
  • Provide regular updates to physician and administrative leaders on significant statistical findings for active projects. Contribute to feasibility assessment of potential OHI projects. Collaborate with publications team to produce manuscripts for submission to peer-reviewed journals in accordance with project timelines.
  • Develop and document best practices/SOPs to be used as resources for future projects and for reference by the research and design team. Conduct and supervise statistical analysis and data management. Evaluate the structure of datasets regarding specific statistical tests, executes statistical tests. Run and evaluate statistical models.
  • Determine appropriate analysis to perform based on clinical questions and research outcomes. Collaborate with the research staff to address complex data analytic and statistical questions.Help maintain programs for data entry, data management, and subject tracking.
  • Complete reports in order to ensure that any data errors are identified quickly and corrected.  Identify and correct common data analytic and statistical problems.Monitor and maintain quality of data for quality improvement.
  • Collaborate with principal investigators, co-investigators, and research staff in the preparation of manuscripts .Effectively explain areas of research methodology and statistical analysis to the PI as they relate to research outcomes.
  • Prepare written and oral data presentations/visual displays for grant submissions, progress reports, site visits, seminars, and meetings.Plan, develop, and implement educational programs (data and statistical analysis) for staff.

 

Qualifications

  • Master's degree required in biostatistics, statistics, research methodology, psychology, health sciences, computer science or related field.
  • Three years of prior statistical analysis and data management experience is required, preferably in a research setting.
  • Strong working knowledge of at least one statistical software packages (SPSS, SAS, StatXact, Stata) is required.
  • Strong working knowledge of relational database systems is required.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office is required.
  • Excellent oral and written communications is required.
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills are required.
  • Prior experience supervising junior staff is preferred.
