Description
UPMC Family Hospice is currently seeking a Board Certified/Board Eligible physician to join our growing hospice team as Chief Medical Director. Subspecialty boarding in Hospice and Palliative Medicine is required and HPM fellowship training is preferred. Will oversee medical care for hospice operations for UPMC Family Hospice Northwest/West/East branches, which currently covers a 22-county service area in Western and Central Pennsylvania. This includes a 12-bed inpatient unit in Pittsburgh and oversight of a team of full time and part time nurse practitioners and physicians.
The position requires working closely with the both the Director and VP of Hospice and reporting directly to the President of UPMC Home Healthcare and Family Hospice.Additional collaboration with UPMC Palliative Supportive Institute and Chief Medical Officer Robert Arnold is required. This includes close work with the palliative care teams at UPMC hospitals, as well as coordination with the prestigious Hospice and Palliative Medicine Fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh, Section of Palliative Care and Medical Ethics for hospice rotations, as well as program development.
The position is 70% administrative and 30% clinical, which would include participating in the call schedule, weekend IPU coverage every 6 weeks, vacation coverage, as well as a physician lead for a small community hospice team. Excellent skills in communication, quality improvement, compliance, strategic operations, and personnel management are required.
