Res Project Coordinator WPIC (Joffe Lab)


The Joffe Lab within the Translational Research Program in the Department of Psychiatry is seeking a Res Project Coordinator to assist with conducting experiments, training Research Assistants and graduate students, and maintaining general laboratory operations. The principal function of this position is to provide support for ongoing research efforts related to mouse models of alcohol use disorder and other psychiatric diseases. The Res Project Coordinator will be primarily responsible for assisting with mouse behavioral experiments, performing surgeries and colony maintenance, and providing general administrative support for the lab. 

This position is grant funded.


To provide coordination and support for special projects and daily activities for the laboratory.


  • Assist with quality assurance over all aspects of data collection and management, including data flow, data entry and verification, maintenance of all project databases, data security and confidentiality.
  • Provides regular supervision for junior staff.
  • Responsible for preparing and modifying IACUC protocols, Regulatory Binders, and Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Design and assist with behavioral studies in mice, performs stereotactic surgeries, and maintain and genotype mouse colonies
  • Maintains, troubleshoots, and optimizes efforts to improve laboratory equipment use
  • Communicate effectively with the research, clinical, and administrative staff related to this research.
  • Assists with general laboratory operation, procurement, and inventory.
  • Analyzes results using computer-aided data analysis software
  • Coordination of recruitment ie. Advertisements, tracking recruitment, and developing strategies to increase response in targeted populations.
  • Assist in preparation and submission of regular reports detailing the progress of the research, including NIH progress reports.


  • Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Neuroscience, Sociology, Business Administration or related area of study and three years of relevant research and/or clinical experience is required. Master’s degree is strongly preferred.
