Description

The Commissions Process Analyst is a part time, temporary position to support the Producer Commissions segment of the Commercial Department for its downtown Pittsburgh location. The Commissions Process Analyst will report directly to the Supervisor of Commissions. This position will process and analyze various complex data in support of the accurate and timely calculation of multiple commission incentive plans, bonuses and contests for internal and external sales forces. This role will take part in the identification, research, resolution and communication of calculation variances, as well as the application of new and/or improved processes to avoid future variances. This position will provide regular and ad hoc analyses, as well as reporting of commissions data.This role requires the ability to articulate results and opportunities to internal and external audiences, implement the solutions, and track and monitor progress. These functions must be done while also weighing the practical considerations and potential barriers that need to be overcome to successfully implement new programs and processes. This role will work across multiple functions, such as sales, operations, and finance. This position requires the individual have strong analytical and communication skills, be deadline driven, detail-oriented, and self-motivated. 

Responsibilities:

  • Calculates commissions across multiple incentive plans, bonus structures and contests for internal and external Producers in accordance internal policy, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Performs accurate and detailed audit of commission payments and statements, in accordance with requirements.
  • Perform in-depth analyses related to the regular commission payment cycles, variance analysis, data reconciliations and regularly reports updates.
  • Identify, researches, and reconciles any discrepancies.
  • Researches and resolves commission payment related inquiries, requiring thorough investigation of each unique situation to determine the proper course of action.
  • Receives and provides proper explanations to questions from stakeholders, provides excellent customer service and resolves issues in a positive manner.
  • Efficiently, effectively and routinely communicates the results of the payments, audits, analyses, discrepancies, and reconciliation matters to management and other stakeholders.
  • Identifies areas of concern that may compromise client satisfaction through data analysis, and propose solutions based on findings, expertise, and research.
  • Maintains detailed, accurate and organized records. Produces accurate and detailed commission statements in accordance with requirements.
  • Explain results of analysis to a non-technical internal audience, including management.
  • Meet deadlines and turnaround times set by department management.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by manager.Must carry out all responsibilities with minimal direct supervision.

 

 

Qualifications

  • B.A. degree in business, mathematics, statistics, accounting /finance, engineering or a related regulatory and/or compliance driven field.
  • 2 years of experience in accounting, finance, business or related technical experience required.
  • Basic understanding of commissions, claims payable, payroll, or compliance with experience in health care insurance industry is strongly preferred.
  • Superior skills in MS Office: Excel, Word, Outlook required.
  • Proficiencies in various software packages such as MC400, PeopleSoft, COGNOS and Cavulus preferred.
  • Basic SQL experience preferred.
  • Ability to provide accurate, detailed calculations, as well as related financial projections.
  • Ability to seek out various resources, internal and external, to research problem resolutions.
  • Ability to interpret authoritative guidance required.
  • Demonstrate a high degree of professionalism, enthusiasm and initiative on daily basis.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment a must.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects, and forge strong interpersonal relationships within the department, with other departments.
  • Attention to detail is critical to the success of this position, with demonstrated competency in customer orientation and the ability to deal with ambiguity.
  • Strong in planning, communicating, documentation, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to interpret and summarize results of various analyses in a timely and meaningful way.
  • Available to work extended hours when it is required.
