Res Project Coordinator WPIC (Cognitive-Affective Neuroscience and Development (CAND) Lab)

Description

The Cognitive-Affective Neuroscience and Development (CAND) Lab focuses on investigating the neurodevelopment of emotion processing and regulation in typically developing youth as well as those diagnosed with or at risk of anxiety and mood disorders. The Res Project Coordinator WPIC will report to Dr. Ladouceur and will oversee project startup, advertising, subject recruitment, screening, and scheduling. They will provide day-to-day supervision of the research staff, coordinate salivary assays performed at home, will interface with study participants when problems arise, ensure that data is saved, backed-up, and preprocessed in a timely manner, as well as manage all project coordination functions of the grant (monitoring expenditures, preparation of IRB submissions to the University of Pittsburgh IRB, and serving as a liaison with the Magnetic Resonance Research Center (MRRC) and the University of Pittsburgh Office of Research). The ideal candidate has experience with and knowledge about mental health disorders, particularly anxiety disorders in adolescence, excellent organization skills, outstanding communication, and problem-solving skills, and can motivate while providing structure to research staff they supervise.

This position is grant funded.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist Principal Investigator with project start-up activities.
  • Coordinate daily recruitment efforts (e.g., inpatient and outpatient clinics, private clinics) by meeting with clinical staff, advertising, building relationships in the community, etc.
  • Coordinate and document all project activities, including all assessments, processing and backing-up of data for each component of the research protocol, and uploading of data to the NIMH NDA repository.
  • Update databases pertaining to subject contact, interviews, assessments, and issuance of subject payments.
  • Supervise and assist research staff with scheduling and completing assessments in research protocol.
  • Interface effectively with members of research team to maintain efficient communication about data collection procedures, data entry, quality control issues and reports.
  • Responsible for preparing and modifying IRB protocols, Regulatory Binders, and Standard Operating Procedures and follow NIMH Clinical Research Education, Support, and Training (CREST).
  • Responsible for the submission of regular reports detailing the progress of the research, including NIH progress reports.
  • Attend and participate in all project-related meetings and perform other duties as assigned.
  • Perform in accordance with system-wide competencies/behaviors.

  • The ability to work independently and in a team structure, and to effectively prioritize and complete tasks.
  • To ensure that all assessments and documentation are completed according to the research protocol and in a timely fashion.
  • Responsible for prompt identification of participants for possible interventions based on research assessment results.
  • Ability to complete duties effectively in a timely fashion with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Ability to respond promptly to work requests as designated by supervisors.
  • Flexibility in schedule to meet research deadlines. 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Psychology or related field required. Master’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, or relevant field preferred
  • Three years of relevant research and/or clinical experience is required
  • Experience in project management preferred
  • Proficiency in basic computer software packages, including MS Word and email preferred
  • Ability to maintain flexible schedule (e.g., Saturday appointments)
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and written/oral communication skills
  • Experience working with children or adolescents is strongly preferred
  • Experience administering and scoring standard research assessments (e.g., K-SADS-PL, SCID, etc.) is preferred

  • Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting with renewal
  • Act 33 with renewal
  • Act 34 with renewal
  • Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
