Description

Purpose:
UPMC is hiring a full-time Trainer, Environmental Services to help support the training and regulatory compliance of the Environmental Services Department for designated UPMC location/s. The Trainer will plan, organize, execute, and monitor all training and regulatory activities along with the management and allocation of staff to maintain the highest possible sanitary standards and positive public relations, by creating a clean, attractive and safe environment for patients, employees and visitors.

Responsibilities:

 

  • Oversee the quality of all training and regulatory functions rendered by the Environmental Services Department to ensure customer satisfaction, infection control and cleanliness standards are met and/or exceeded.
  • Assist with retention and engagement initiatives.
  • Compile and submit all reports pertaining to the regulated medical waste and waste management program as required by regulation.
  • Ensure compliance with state, federal and other regulatory requirements and guidelines.
  • Keep abreast of new information regarding laws and regulations governing the disposal of bio-hazardous and chemotherapeutic waste.
  • Assists in creating, evaluating, and implementing system wide Environmental Services policies and procedures.
  • Evaluate, select, inventory, and procure the necessary supplies, equipment, etc., in order to effectively carry out each facility functions.
  • Travel to designated facility for routine evaluation of operational, regulatory, and procedural efficiency as needed.
  • Communicate with system leadership all related policy changes, new procedures, standards of performance, and departmental/UPMC activities.
  • Provide follow up on all incidents of improper procedures, waste disposal, and servicing by written documentation and in conjunction with Safety Manager of hospital.
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive plan to optimize system departmental training efficiency.
  • Oversees orientation and training, retention, and performance management of staff according to hospital policy.
  • Consult with Administration and management peers regarding the functions of the department in their areas of responsibility to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Design, develop, maintain, and manage training and other learning events/programs.
  • Monitor the systems responsibilities regarding the transport and disposal of infectious and solid waste.
  • Provide continual research of new policies, procedures, and techniques applicable to Environmental Services.
  • Design, implement and/or manage hospital, department, and system Continuous Quality Improvement and quality assessment systems to ensure the effectiveness of all functions and initiatives.
  • Investigate and respond to complaints from a system perspective as necessary and take appropriate action to correct problems and establish action plans to eliminate future occurrences.
  • Monitor system processes and procedures to ensure work is done properly, on schedule, and meets regulatory and compliance standards.
  • Designs and trains EVS associates regarding cleaning procedures, floor care procedures, meeting set-ups, waste management, and Tele-tracking software functions with consideration of the size and physical layout of each facility and task frequencies required.

Qualifications

  • HS Diploma/GED required
  • Two years relevant experience in a Health Care setting required.
  • Relevant leadership experience required
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, organizational and management skills Strong analytical, execution and customer service skills requiredModerate computer experience.
  • Travel required to other facilities.
