Description

UPMC is seeking an Internal Communications Specialist I role based out of the US Steel Tower in Pittsburgh, PA. Under the general direction of the senior manager, this role will handle various projects to provide communications to internal audiences in support of UPMC's mission.

Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate service-oriented behavior in interactions with clients and co-workers.
  • Handle multiple tasks simultaneously and prioritize projects appropriately.
  • Manage web projects of varying levels of complexity and sophistication, collaborating with departmental communications managers, clients across UPMC, and technical teams.
  • Manage communications projects of varying levels of complexity and sophistication as assigned. Complete projects on strategy, on time, and within budget, as applicable.
  • Ability to keep the user experience top of mind while completing projects.
  • Ability to learn different technologies quickly and use that knowledge to propose content solutions.
  • Serve as liaison to internal clients or colleagues for UPMC’s intranet.
  • Identify and recommend website improvements.
  • Ensure that content and design is understandable, accessible, and consistent with UPMC brand standards.
  • Contribute to intranet content operations including information onboarding, regular improvements, and auditing while ensuring usability, accuracy, accessibility, and discoverability.
  • Quickly attend to user requests and inquiries through clear and concise verbal and written communications, serving as an information help desk; triage inquiries to other UPMC departments and escalate as necessary.
  • Continuously refine and maintain the processes used by the department and external vendors, as necessary.
  • Adhere to all department processes as established for editing content, submitting to publications, supporting intranet governance, and other processes as outlined by department leadership.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in English, journalism, communications, health sciences, or a related field.
  • At least one year experience in a communications position or related field or completion of UPMC Summer Associate program.
  • Must have excellent communication, multitasking, organizational, research/interviewing, writing, grammar, and interpersonal skills
