Description

UPMC Shadyside is hiring a Lead Echo Sonographer to join their team in the Non-Invasive Cardiology department!

This role will involve working a variety of daylight hours 6:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. with evening, weekend, and holiday on-call responsibility. 

Sign-On Bonus Details:

$10,000 for a 2 year commitment

Purpose:
In addition to performing imaging procedures at an advanced level, coordinates workflow, assists with projects and coordinates educational activities. Functions as a working technologist and distributes workload to ensure efficient operations.

Responsibilities:

  • Has working knowledge of instrumentation and can troubleshoot issues concerning processes or workflow.
  • Assures the maintenance of lab equipment, coordinating PM and repairs with BioTronics.
  • Performs ultrasound diagnostic examinations in accordance with Level I and Level II Advanced sonographer.
  • Monitors quality assurance projects and assists in the development of exam protocols along side of or in place of advanced sonographers and communicates results back to departmental leadership.
  • Leads accreditation activities.
  • Leads orientation and training for new hires, students and other medical personnel; ensures competencies are completed in the required time frame.
  • Responsible for offering remediation with sonographers when necessary.
  • Keeps current with industry standards and works with system partners to improve quality.
  • Assists in talent acquisition interviews for successful recruitment of sonographer candidates and provides feedback for annual performance reviews.
  • Assumes the leadership role in the absence of the supervisor.
  • Coordinates daily workflow and schedule of the department while maintaining staffing levels based on, but not limited to, call offs, vacations, patient volumes, and training needs.

 

Qualifications

  • Completion of formal training in an accredited ultrasound program or professional equivalent required.
  • 3 years of ultrasound experience required.
  • Previous leadership experience preferred.
  • Performance review consistent with minimum of Strong/Solid performance on last performance review.


Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

  • Registry Required.
  • CPR/BLS requiredAct 33, 34, 73 as required by business unit
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
  • Act 34
