Description

Purpose:
UPMC Community Medicine Incorporated is hiring full-time LPN. Provides professional nursing care to office patients under supervision of patient care providers.  Rheumatology is one division within our multi-specialty practice.  This position will provide the candidate with a unique perspective to be part of a large practice which provides rheumatology, orthopedic, pain management and sports medicine care.   
Position provides primary support to two physicians and five midlevel providers.  The nurse will be responsible for a variety of duties including rooming, nurse visits, refill requests and phone messages. Effective communication and clinical skills are required. 

Primary location in Cranberry location, coverage at other sites as needed including North Hills, Brooktree, Butler Crossroads and Slippery Rock.

Responsibilities:

  • Draw blood.
  • Clinical care including rooming, nurse visits, phone messages, refill requests, follow up on test results and medication ordering. 
  • Comply with requirements of appropriate regulatory agencies (i.e. OSHA, CLIA, PA Department of Health).
  • Administer medications including oral, SQ, IM and IV drip.
  • Assist physicians with examinations, diagnostic procedures and treatments.
  • Assess patient's general condition and take vital signs and weight.
  • Comply with all policies and procedures.
  • Perform IV therapy under direction of Registered Nurse.
  • Document all activities/interventions, patient/family responses, medication dispensed/prescribed, etc., in the medical record.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality related to medical records and other data.
  • Promote wellness by providing patient education materials, communicating physician advice/instructions.

 

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an approved LPN school of nursing. One-year clinical experience preferred.
  • Rheumatology or Endocrinology preferred but not required.


Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) OR Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
  • Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
  • Act 33 with renewal
  • Act 34 with renewal
  • Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
