Description
Responsibilities:
- Assists with outings assigned by Activity Director.
- Contributes to resident care plans through memos or conferences with Activity Director.
- Organizes and implements specific activities assigned by the Activity Director.
- Anticipates and takes action to maintain a safe environment. Incorporates safety/risk management standards into daily work practices. Reports faulty equipment/problems immediately.
- Reminds residents and staff early of activity programs through invitation and the PA system. Communicates effectively with nursing staff and all other departments.
- Participates in department meeting with Activities Director.
- Starts Activities on time in accordance with Activity Calendars.
- Secures substitutes for program cancellations.
- Directs and assists volunteers as assigned by Activity Director.
- Maintains equipment and supplies.
- Attends training schedules as assigned by Activities Director. Attends mandatory inservices as required.
- Monitors inventory of equipment and supplies, informing Activity Director of needs.
- Reports suspected or known resident abuse to Director of Nursing or Administrator.
- Maintains accurate daily activity attendance records of resident?s participation in activities. Maintains accurate daily activity attendance records as well as other documentation assigned by the Activity Director.
- Assists with preparation of and mounts monthly activity calendars and distributes monthly calendars and weekly menus according to established deadlines.
- Purchases supplies as approved by Activities Director.
- Completes reading assigned by Activities Director.
- Arranges rooms and collects necessary equipment and supplies for activity programs.
- Assists with transporting residents to and from activities. Reports residents abuse immediately to supervisor; takes corrective action.
Qualifications
Requires a minimum of High School Diploma.Minimum of one (1) year experience working with geriatric population preferred.Desire to interact with elderly residents and residents with disabilities required.
