Description
UPMC is hiring a Registered Vascular Technologist to work 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., approximately 40 hours per two-week period. Responsibilities include helping to cover call on weekends, and potentially holidays.
This role will function within a dedicated Vascular Lab working closely with a team of Vascular Surgeons.
Experience with the following studies is preferred: Carotid, Arterial exams: bypass grafts, hemodialysis fistulas/grafts; venous exams: rule out DVT and venous insufficiency; Vein mappings for pre-operative assessment for bypass grafts, coronary artery bypass, and hemodialysis access; visceral exams to include: Aorta/iliac (EVAR), renal, mesenteric, and liver doppler. Prior OR experience assisting with venous ablation procedures is a plus.
Purpose:
Perform noninvasive Peripheral Vascular studies including (but not restricted to) arterial and venous duplex imaging with color flow Doppler, noninvasive arterial testing (pulse volume recordings/segmental limb pressures), visceral abdominal duplex imaging with color flow Doppler, extracranial duplex imaging with color flow Doppler, and other noninvasive vascular tests assigned. This goal must be achieved within 6 months to 1 year of starting date. Patient testing is performed on adolescent, geriatric and adult patients.
Responsibilities:
- Display knowledge of Doppler and Ultrasound physics when performing vascular exams.
- Provide general information to patients and their significant others while performing vascular testing.
- Enter data in computer and maintain data integrity. Participates in the training of new technologists and students. Participates in continuing education within the department.
- Provide support to staff to assure competency in all phases of vascular diagnostic services.
- Obtain detailed, accurate history on vascular patients.
- Display ability to troubleshoot problems with equipment and computer terminals and make minor repairs.
- Assist other staff members and hospital personnel in the completion of needed tasks. Make patient care and/or interdepartmental service the number one priority.
- Maintain safety of vascular patients while in the department.
- Obtain and calculate tracing, spectral analyses, and analog waveforms for vascular tests.
- Perform all studies offered in the Peripheral Vascular lab within twelve months of starting date.
Qualifications
Completion of formal training in an accredited Vascular Technology or Ultrasound program required or RVT or equivalent credential required.
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
Registered preferred, or registry eligible with a minimum of physics portion or registry completed. *Must obtain registry within 12 months of graduation date.
CPR or BLS Required
- Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
- Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (ARDMS) OR Registered Vascular Technologist
- Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting with renewal
- Act 33 with renewal
- Act 34 with renewal
- Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
