Across UPMC, our guiding principle is to always prioritize the safety of our employees, patients, and members. UPMC believes that vaccination is important, helps protect all, and advocates that everyone who can be vaccinated should be vaccinated.

UPMC complies with all governmental requirements related to local, state, and federal COVID-19 vaccination for employment. The Jan. 13 Supreme Court of the United States decision that the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services federal COVID-19 vaccine mandate will move forward requires UPMC to ensure employees either get vaccinated or receive a requested medical or religious exemption.

We’re hiring Student Workers for Summer 2022 within our UPMC Corporate Legal Department.  UPMC's legal department provides a fantastic venue for a law student to obtain relevant legal experience, particularly in various aspects of health law and corporate practice, as well as with other legal issues presented to the legal department of an extensive health care system.

Student Workers are responsible for assisting attorneys with projects including research, writing, drafting agreements, organizing information, and participating in creation/delivery of presentations.  The preferred students have completed their first year of law school prior to joining the team in Summer 2022.

To be considered for a position, please submit a resume, writing sample, undergraduate transcript and copy of first semester law school grades with your submission.  If you do not have all upfront, please add the outstanding items upon receipt.

Qualifications

  • Current enrollment in High School or equivalent program required.
  • Students must complete their first year of law school prior to the internship.
  • This will be a paid position. 
  • The candidate will have a working knowledge of the Microsoft system.
  • Related experience to the program/study/research is preferred.
  • Candidate should have an interest in field of study. 
  • The successful candidate must be able to work within a team environment under direct supervision.
  • The candidate must possess the ability to interact effectively with all levels of staff.
  • The candidate must be able to perform routine tasks under the guidance of senior staff.
