Accountant, Senior - MWRIF

Description

The Magee-Womens Research Institute Accounting Department is looking for a Full-time Senior-level Accounting Professional who will be responsible for moderate to complex accounting entries, processing and creating invoices, approving purchase orders, and other duties as assigned. The ideal candidate will provide for the moderately complex accounting activities relating to the maintenance of a complete and accurate general ledger and the resultant managerial reports and financial statements under general supervision.

This position will work Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Hours are subject to change based on business needs.

 Responsibilities:

  • Prepares general ledger account reconciliations for designated accounts. Proposes correcting entries.
  • Prepares and posts complex monthly journal entries, including accounting for special events, pledges, unrestricted  and restricted funds including endowments.
  • Prepares analysis for annual audit.
  • Acts as a mentor for accountants or administrative staff.
  • Acts as a liaison for the department in meetings with management.
  • Prepares reconciliation of actual to budget variance analysis.
  • Develops administrative tasks, special projects, and training programs as assigned.
     

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or related business field required.
  • Minimum of three years of related work experience required, preferably in a non-profit industry.
  • CPA/MBA preferred.
  • Microsoft Office spreadsheet application required, and Financial Edge, Raisers Edge, and PeopleSoft General Ledger proficiency preferred.
