Across UPMC, our guiding principle is to always prioritize the safety of our employees, patients, and members. UPMC believes that vaccination is important, helps protect all, and advocates that everyone who can be vaccinated should be vaccinated.

UPMC complies with all governmental requirements related to local, state, and federal COVID-19 vaccination for employment. The Jan. 13 Supreme Court of the United States decision that the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services federal COVID-19 vaccine mandate will move forward requires UPMC to ensure employees either get vaccinated or receive a requested medical or religious exemption.

Performs drug and alcohol testing services.


  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Uses effective written and verbal communications. Interacts with a variety of staff, managers and physicians. Works independently. Utilizes problem-solving skills, pays attention to detail.
  • Regularly attends training updates and Drug Screen Collector/Breath Alcohol Technician meetings: Attends training updates and Drug Screen Collector/Breath Alcohol Technician meetings. Seeks information from the Drug Screen Coordinator on training updates. Seeks information from the Drug Screen Coordinator regarding any Drug Screen Collector/Breath Alcohol Technician meeting that may have been missed.
  • Communicates issues/problems promptly to Drug Screen Coordinator and responds promptly to concerns raised by Drug Screen Coordinator: Reports all urgent issues/problems to Drug Screen Coordinator immediately. Makes record of non-urgent issues/problems and leaves record with the Drug Screen Coordinator for handling on the next working day. Responds to concerns raised by the Drug Screen Coordinator within 24 hours of notification.
  • Demonstrates reliability by providing availability for scheduling of call time and by responding promptly to call-back requests: Makes self-available at least twice monthly for scheduling. Receives less than two complaints annually regarding promptness to respond to call-back requests.
  • Performs alcohol testing procedures in accordance with established policies/procedures and with less than 5% error.
  • Performs drug screening procedure in accordance with established policies/procedures and with less than 5% error.

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

Clearances must be dated within 90 days

  • Act 33 with renewal
  • Act 34 with renewal
  • Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
