UPMC Jameson, located in New Castle, PA is hiring a Radiology Assistant to join its award-winning team of the UPMC Imaging Services Line. This casual role requires at least 16 hours of monthly availability with at least 8 hours for a weekend shift and has the potential to travel between UPMC Jameson, College Fields and the Westgate Outpatient Center. Duties are a combination of clerical and clinical duties with an emphasis on Patient Satisfaction activities and managing patient workflow. Purpose:
To assist technical staff in providing quality, timely care for Radiology patients
Responsibilities:
- Assists technical staff by preparing the exam room and assisting the Technologist as directed.
- Displays the ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive matters and to exercise discretion in dealing with controversial or potentially sensitive topics. Enhances the image of UPMC Hamot and promotes professionalismn good relationships.
- Answers telephones and routes calls, taking messages as appropriate.
- Works cooperatively with patients, professional staff, and other medical center personnel to maintain a good relationship.
- Demonstrates Business Unit commitment to Service Excellence by understanding the needs of patients, their families, physicians and co-workers and doing what is required the first time, every time by being responsible, sensitive, accurate, timely, coordinated and thorough.
- Performs image process duties.
- Performs data entry of information into the Radiology Information System (RIS) as directed by Technologist.
- Assists staff in transferring and transporting patients.
- Acts as liaison between the Radiologists, the Technologists and the patient regarding waiting periods, status of test, etc. Instructs patients in changing clothes for exams, assisting them when necessary. Maintains adequate stock of gowns, etc. in dressing rooms.
Qualifications
High school graduate or equivalentOne year of patient care experience preferredRadiology experience preferred Excellent communication skills due to high degree of interaction with physicians and patientsAccess to medications is limited to the distribution of the medication to the nurse.?
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire
- Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
- Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting with renewal
- Act 33 with renewal
- Act 34 with renewal
- Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
